How To Get the Most Out of Your Condo Counter Space Vivace Kitchen imageAre you loving condo living but feel like your counter is always crowded? In any home, regardless of size, the kitchen counter is often the catch-all for everything from cutlery to car keys. The good news is you can always squeeze more space out of what you have. Here are a few ways to get the most out of any counter space.

No Loose Ends

Anything you do want to leave on your counter shouldn’t be left loose. This means having containers for tea bags, coffee discs and any common spices you may want at hand. Keeping your odds and ends tidy and in containers will make it easier for you to decide whether or not it really belongs there or can be put away.

Level Up

It’s easy to add storage in some of the dead space in the cupboards you already have by adding extra shelves - especially cupboard shelves as they often have more room. Most popular home stores sell kitchen storage solutions including levelled cupboard organizers and lazy susans. You can even try using a cake stand in your pantry to help free up a little more room for canned goods and spices.

2. Movable Cart

Kitchen carts and portable kitchen islands can do double duty in terms of adding some extra storage and prep space. They also come in a variety of sizes and colours - just make sure you look for one with a butcher's block on top.

3. Garbage Bowl

Do you find yourself feeling a little cramped when you cook?  It’s common when cooking big meals especially when scraps pile up and you end up with a massive mess. A garbage bowl is something made popular by Rachel Ray and it's a handy way to deal with your cooking scraps until you can dispose of them.

Fit a custom cutting board over top of a drawer that you can slide out anytime you need to cut up some fresh vegetables. Another option is to buy a wooden cutting board that fits over your sink. That way you can slide any scraps into the basin where you can leave them until you're finished.

5. Appliances Be Gone

Find somewhere to put small appliances you don’t use on the daily - your toaster or blender for instance. Fortunately, most new condos come with ample amounts of pantry and storage space but you can also use this creative guide for storing small appliances for a little extra assistance. You can also make your very own appliance garage - it’s simple to put together and can give your kitchen a more organized look.

6. Vertical Space

Don’t let this space go to waste! You can use your walls and cupboard backs to hang pots, pans, utensils or include a few DIY storage containers. Utilizing vertical space can be a simple way to free up your counters and it looks great too!

Getting the most out of your condo counter space doesn’t have to be difficult. Just put a few of the above tips to good use and you're sure to notice a big difference in no time.
