It’s a short commute into downtown, and you’re almost as close to the mountains to the west as you are to the airport to the east. It's no wonder why people are flocking to Evanston, one of Calgary’s hottest new communities.

With one of the lowest median ages in Calgary and surrounding regions, Evanston finds itself appealing to another generation of active lifestyles, pet owners, repeat homebuyers and the like, and all for good reason. It’s difficult to find the combination of urban convenience, mountain access and neighbourhood green space anywhere else.

Designed For Your Lifestyle

Evanston is one of Calgary’s youngest neighbourhoods for a reason; it’s new, it’s fresh, and it’s designed for outdoor living. Situated in the northwest nook between Stoney Trail and Symons Valley Road, Evanston is full of natural outdoor space with gentle creeks, nearby parks, and rolling hills.

As a new development on the edge of Calgary’s northwest region, there’s freedom to wander with a host of regional biking and walking trails and open areas for both people and pets to explore.

What’s more, escaping the city has never been easier. A direct route along Highway 1 means Evanston has express access to Banff National Park in under an hour. With hiking, biking, camping, lodging, skiing, fishing and some of the best white water rafting around, the possibilities are endless. If you’re from Calgary, you already knew this. You just didn’t know how close Evanston was!

Unique Perks Of Living in Evanston

Let's get into a few other perks that living in Evanston gives you. To start, Nosehill Park is just minutes away. Are you someone that lives for weekend adventures? There’s plenty of exploring to do at Lake Louise, with a drive that's less than two hours away, world class skiing at Kicking Horse in under three hours and family getaways in Jasper National Park in under four hours.

It doesn’t matter who’s coming in from out of town, there’s something to do for everyone! Speaking of out of town, the airport is also easily accessible sitting about 20 minutes southeast of Evanston.

Friends And Family Nearby

Evanston’s proximity to downtown Calgary makes it a desirable destination for new homebuyers, but closeness to friends and family also has its appeal.

Evanston is home to a number of new housing developments and sits on the edge of many well-established bedroom communities in Calgary’s suburbs. If you’re looking to move a little bit closer to friends and family but don't want to take on a big mortgage, some of the new townhome developments in Evanston might be just the place for you.

Have friends and family in Edmonton you visit on a regular basis? Living on the north end of Calgary means convenient access to Highway 2 while skipping over city traffic.

Your Everyday Amenities, And Much, Much More

Now that you know all about the region around Evanston, let’s talk about its amenities. This new Calgary community recently welcomed the brand new Evanston Towne Centre, complete with everyday staples such as Sobey’s, Pet Value, Royal Bank and more.

The beloved Costco is also close by in the adjacent community of Sherwood, as well as Crowfoot Crossing, another popular shopping destination in Arbour Lake.

A short distance up the 201 is the CrossIron Mills Outlet Mall with over 200 specialty stores and 15-plus anchor stores to satisfy any of your specific shopping needs.

As developments expand, so do the amenities around them. If there’s one thing we can promise you, absolutely everything you need is just a short walk or drive away.

Don’t Worry, You’re Still Connected

Perhaps the best feature of Evanston is its connection to the city. It’s not often that you can enjoy the benefits of open space while still remaining close to work and responsibilities.

Evanston is uniquely situated on the edge of Stoney Trail, a ring road that, once completed, will provide easy access to every corner of the city. While there’s still work to be done, Stoney Trail is currently completed from Highway 1 in the west around to the northwest, northeast and southeast corners of Calgary.

There’s also direct access from Evanston into the downtown core with public transit the runs frequently via local buses and the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system. If you’re facing the morning rush, the commute into downtown Calgary is typically no more than 45 minutes by car. Between the Stoney Trail ring road, highway networks, and regional bike paths, there aren’t many places out of reach from northwest Calgary.

It’s difficult to cover all the perks that make Evanston so appealing to homeowners, but that should add to the draw! Between local bike paths and green space, easy access to destinations near and far, and continued amenity developments, it’s being dubbed one of Calgary’s “Hottest New Developments” for all the right reasons.
